The Reserve on the Saluda is justa few minutes away from downtown Columbia! The city of Columbia is the capital of South Carolina and the largest city in the State with a population of 129,272. The city itself has a colorful history dating back to the 1500s, it was made the state capital in 1790. The city is filled with beautiful historic homes and sites that help to give it that distinctive southern feel.

Columbia today has many great activities for the family and for adults! From the State Museum, the River Walk, the Vista, the beautiful State Capital Building and to many other activities to do downtown!

The city is located in almost the exact center of South Carolina, making it an easy drive to the city of Charleston, Greenville and Myrtle Beach. You can easily put on your swim suits and be at the beach in a little under two hours!

 

 

Riverbanks Zoo

One of America's best zoos, Riverbanks Zoo and Garden is home to more than 2000 animals and one of the nation's most inspiring botanical gardens.

Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Gardens is a great place to take the kids, grandkids or even just yourself! Riverbanks Zoo is one of the premiers zoos in the United States and one of the best in the south. They have animals ranging all the way from sharks, jellyfish, and alligators all the way to elephants, lions, giraffes and more!

During the Christmas season they open up the zoo to the public at night to come and view the Christmas displays and lights they set up as well as get to see the animals one more time!

Not only are you close to the zoo but also the botanical gardens that’s attached to the zoo itself. Enjoy long walks through beautiful woods, gardens and a bridge that takes you over the Saluda River giving you a spectacular view of the river.
